Transcending Self

Leader: Malin Rozon
Type of Program: Cross Training
Prerequisites: Familiarity with the See Hear Feel family of techniques
Fee: $10 per person

In Buddhist tradition, "Stream entry" is a milestone on the contemplative path. It represents the point at which a meditator has seen through, in a significant way, their habitual illusions about "the self". This isn't an abstract philosophical breakthrough, but a new way of processing experience that results in an increased baseline of equanimity and wellbeing in everyday life. In this session we'll discuss what stream entry is in the context of Unified Mindfulness and we'll practice Focus In, which is Shinzen's recommended meditation technique for new UM students who want to achieve stream entry. As part of our exploration of the self, we'll also introduce themes from the Transcend quadrant that can arise during Focus In, and we'll talk about why these themes are important and how to work with them when they show up. The majority of this program will be spent in teaching & guidance, with only very limited time for Q&A. The prerequisites are minimal but it's highly recommended you familiarize yourself with them in advance.

Be Back Now

Leader: Ines Aulló Pérez
Type of Program: Special Theme
Prerequisites: - Familiarity with Flow technique, particularly Expansion & Contraction; Rest techniques, Now and Back techniques or direct pointing
techniques. Not necessary, but basic experience optional with Vibratory Flow, Spaciousness.
Fee: $20 per person

Join me for a playful, and powerful introduction to the Now and Back families, two ways of working that meet in the middle and open up a richer relationship with experience. Though they are different, they complement each other beautifully: one sensitizes you to the living texture of experience, while the other helps attention turn and release its habitual grip. Together, they can loosen reactivity, deepen our concentration, clarity and equanimity (CC&E) and bring more spontaneity, compassion and ease into ordinary life, while quietly opening a sense that experience may be more unified, spacious and complete than we usually notice. If you’re drawn to practice that feels alive, intimate and practical, come step in, explore, and discover what opens when experience is met a little more directly and a sense of quiet wonder.

Sensitizing Meets Source

Leader: Rose Bostick
Type of Program: Drill/Accelerator
Prerequisites: An understanding of the See, Hear, Feel family of techniques, including Rest, and a familiarity with the Flow family (See, Hear, Feel Flow).
Some brief reading about the Transcend themes, Space, Turn Back and See, Hear, Feel Now.
Fee: $20 per person

The UM Transcend quadrant reflects a theme of impermanence, and each of its 16 standard techniques sensitizes you to a quality of impermanence or transcendence. Collectively, they are designed to sensitize you to different flavors of transcendence. In this presentation, we will drill most or all of these techniques in set sequences of the Transcend themes: Flow to Space to Turn Back to Now in all modalities of See, Hear and Feel. I will teach the Space, Turn Back, and Now techniques. Not only are you drilled in the different themes that sensitize you to transcendence, but in the act of drilling, you accelerate the momentum of the mindfulness skills Concentration, Sensory Clarity and Equanimity (CC&E), thus, potentiating experiences of transcendence. I like to think of it as a potential transcendence synergy. Let’s find out.

Beneath the Loop: Working with Rumination through Transcendence

Leader: Kasia Haftek-Lis
Type of Program: Special Theme
Prerequisites: Familiarity with Feel Flow, Rest and Gone techniques
Fee: $20 per person

Rumination is getting stuck replaying the same thoughts, looping without resolving. In Part 1, let's meet the inner talk and images of the loop with See Hear Feel Flow — using this transcend technique to experience rumination as changing, vibratory activity. In Part 2, we move to Rest and Gone, settling beneath the thought stream as the loop releases. The aim isn't to stop the thoughts, but to change how we hold them.

Feel Good: Glimmers, Gratitude & Self-Care

Leader: Erika Caspersen
Type of Program: Special Theme
Prerequisites: None
Fee: $20 per person

Cultivating Healing, Resilience, and Well-Being Through Positive Neuroplasticity
How can mindfulness help us intentionally cultivate greater well-being, not by avoiding life's challenges, but by becoming more available to moments of safety, ease, connection, appreciation, and joy? What if these ordinary moments could become lasting inner resources for resilience and healing?

In this experiential special theme session, we will explore how mindfulness can intentionally cultivate positive emotional states using the Unified Mindfulness Feel Good (Nurture Positive) technique. Rather than simply noticing pleasant experiences, participants will learn how to recognize, deepen, and sustain them in ways that support the brain's natural capacity for positive neuroplasticity, strengthening neural pathways associated with healing, resilience, and well-being.

Grounded in the three core Unified Mindfulness skills, Concentration Power, Sensory Clarity, and Equanimity, this session integrates contemplative wisdom with evidence-informed approaches to explore practices such as glimmers, gratitude, loving-kindness,  self-compassion, and Self-care. These practices help us intentionally receive, savour, and integrate moments of goodness that naturally arise alongside life's challenges. Over time, these experiences can become enduring inner resources that support greater resilience, emotional balance, and well-being.

Through guided meditation, experiential inquiry, reflective discussion, and practical everyday exercises, participants will discover simple yet powerful ways to cultivate well-being in daily life. Offered through a trauma-sensitive lens, the session emphasizes choice, curiosity, and self-kindness, inviting each participant to engage at a pace that feels supportive and personally meaningful.

Participants will explore:

  • Using the Unified Mindfulness Feel Good (Nurture Positive) technique to cultivate well-being intentionally.

  • Applying Concentration Power, Sensory Clarity, and Equanimity to stabilize and deepen beneficial experiences.

  • Recognizing and savouring glimmers, everyday moments of safety, connection, beauty, appreciation, and possibility.

  • Practicing gratitude, loving-kindness, and self-compassion to foster resilience, emotional balance, and psychological well-being.

  • Applying a four-step process to strengthen positive neuroplasticity and transform beneficial experiences into lasting inner resources.

  • Developing sustainable mindfulness and self-care practices that support healing, resilience, and flourishing in everyday life.

Experience Level
No previous experience with Unified Mindfulness or meditation is required. The practices are accessible to beginners while offering meaningful depth, insight, and practical application for experienced meditators.
